Can Goods Donation

Food banks and food pantries are feeding double the numbers they have in the past! As more families find themselves with parents out of work and/or children home for their 3+ meals a day, the pantries are being visited by more families than ever. The Sebago Lake Rotary club has recently donated an additional $250 for the purchase of can goods to the Windham Food Pantry.

BackPack Program in uncertain times

The Sebago Lake Rotary Club has recently donated $2750 in support of the RSU14 Backpack Program for meals and for school supplies for the local Elementary Schools. During this time of uncertainty, families are hit in many ways. The SLRC wanted to make sure that the children in our communities had the necessary tools to fulfill their school requirements and needs as well as meals. The program relies solely on donations which cost $200 per student to provide this service during the school year. Families are picking up these supplies on Tuesdays and Fridays at Raymond Elementary and Windham Primary Schools each week.

Its Pizza Time!

The Sebago Lake Rotary Club sponsors a fun event that the community looks forward to each year. Our Pizza Challenge offers local pizza makers an opportunity to showcase their specialty pizzas to between 400 -500 visitors to the event. Taking place in late May, this event utilizes a vacant space that is donated in the area and offers the community up to 18 different vendors. The community enjoys this event and our club looks forward to sponsoring it. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the vendors who provide the pizza and baked goods.

Ending Hunger

The Sebago Lake Rotary Club has been involved in several projects to help with the hunger issues in their region. From their Stuff the Bus events and the Feet For Food Walk in the fall, the club has raised over $10,000 in the past few years toward food insecurity in the Sebago Lake Region. Donations raised are shared with the 13 food pantries in the area through the Feed the Need initiative shared with the local Chamber of Commerce. When statistics say that one in every 4 children in Maine suffers from food insecurity, this club just has to do something about that.

Helping Senior Citizens

Our passion for our senior citizens in our community inspires us to create special events for them. Our club provides special holiday meals for the folks at Unity Garden Housing as well as a BBQ for them at the end of summer. We bring music to them and plan evenings of fun and socializing.
At Christmas our club provides Christmas Bags for over 60 seniors who might not have any gift and distribute them through the Windham Food Pantry.
