Food banks and food pantries are feeding double the numbers they have in the past! As more families find themselves with parents out of work and/or children home for their 3+ meals a day, the pantries are being visited by more families than ever. The Sebago Lake Rotary club has recently donated an additional $250 for the purchase of can goods to the Windham Food Pantry.

The Sebago Lake Rotary Club has recently donated $2750 in support of the RSU14 Backpack Program for meals and for school supplies for the local Elementary Schools. During this time of uncertainty, families are hit in many ways. The SLRC wanted to make sure that the children in our communities had the necessary tools to fulfill their school requirements and needs as well as meals. The program relies solely on donations which cost $200 per student to provide this service during the school year. Families are picking up these supplies on Tuesdays and Fridays at Raymond Elementary and Windham Primary Schools each week.

Established in 2001, each February this event is sponsored by the Sebago Lake Rotary Club. It's our larges fund raising event with planning starting in July for the following winter. This event also provides a venue for the Maine Children's Cancer Program and it's Polar Dip.  The event provides the club with revenues that are used to help charities in the community and abroad. Over the years over $100,000 has been raised, helping organizations like Camp Sunshine, The Veterans Center, The Boy Scouts, Rotary International Water Filtration Project and so many others. It helps to fund the clubs projects such as Ending Hunger, Literacy, Senior Citizens, Veterans and so much more.
The Sebago Lake Rotary Club has been involved in several projects to help with the hunger issues in their region. From their Stuff the Bus events and the Feet For Food Walk in the fall, the club has raised over $10,000 in the past few years toward food insecurity in the Sebago Lake Region. Donations raised are shared with the 13 food pantries in the area through the Feed the Need initiative shared with the local Chamber of Commerce. When statistics say that one in every 4 children in Maine suffers from food insecurity, this club just has to do something about that.
The Kittery Trading Post Kids Derby in March is one of the highlight events that the Sebago Lake Rotary Club hosts. Kittery Trading Post is the sponsor for this event and has done so for over 10 years. Children receive ice fishing gear and bait from Kittery Trading Post and experience a fun filled day.
